Our full tackle program — 11 players on the field, up to 33 per roster. Real competition, real teamwork, real development — for athletes going into grades 5th through 8th in the fall.
Westview Youth Football's tackle program is a full 11-player format competing in the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League. Athletes are placed on teams by grade level and compete against other community programs throughout the fall season.
- Open to youth going into grades 5th–8th in the fall school year
- Co-ed program — all genders welcome
- Must reside within Westview High School attendance boundary
- No prior football experience required
Every coach in our program is trained in the USA Football Heads Up technique — the gold standard for safe tackling at the youth level. We focus on:
- Teaching fundamentals first — proper form, footwork, and technique
- Building confidence and character alongside athletic skills
- Ensuring every athlete gets meaningful playing time
- Creating a positive, supportive team environment
- Preparing athletes for high school football
- Going into grades 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th in fall 2026
- Resides within Westview High School attendance boundary
- Completed online registration via SportsEngine / TVYFL
- Signed registration form mailed to WYF
- Current OSAA Medical Release form on file (signed by Doctor or NP)
- 7th & 8th graders: Baseline Concussion Test required before contact drills
We compete as a member of the Tualatin Valley Youth Football League (TVYFL) — one of the premier youth football leagues in the Pacific Northwest.
- Regular season games September 12 – October 31
- Home and away games throughout the Portland metro area
- 7th & 8th grade teams eligible for playoffs November 7th
- Affiliated with USA Football's Heads Up program
Online registration opens through SportsEngine / TVYFL. First come, first served — spots are limited. Register early to secure your athlete's spot.
⏳ Opening May 1stFirst practice of the fall season. All equipment will be distributed at or before first practice. Make sure your OSAA Medical Release form is on file before participating in contact drills. 7th & 8th graders must complete their Baseline Concussion Test prior to contact drills — instructions will be sent after registration.
Bring: mouthguard, cleats, waterTVYFL league games begin. Game locations vary — home and away games throughout the Portland metro area. Full game schedule will be published on the Game Schedule page and through TVYFL once confirmed.
Final regular season game. All teams conclude their season. Jersey purchase option available — keep your jersey for $75.
7th and 8th grade teams that qualify may participate in TVYFL playoff games on November 7th. Playoff eligibility is determined by regular season standings.

- Mouthguard (required — no exceptions)
- Cleats (football or soccer cleats)

- Padded shirts or additional padding (optional but recommended)
- Water bottle
Athletes are placed on teams by the grade they are going into for the fall 2026 school year. All teams compete in the TVYFL league.
Introductory tackle level. Focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and building love of the game.
Intermediate level. Increased complexity of plays and defensive schemes. Playoff eligible.
Advanced level. Preparation for high school football. Full TVYFL competition. Playoff eligible.

Every Westview Youth Football coach completes USA Football's Heads Up Football training before working with athletes. We are committed to making tackle football as safe as possible while maintaining the competitive, developmental experience that makes the sport great.
